As if I don't have enough crap on my plate dealing with work ( yes I'm saying it again.....Christmas and retail SUCKS!) my daughter hit me with a biggie this week. I got a call from the principal's office telling me that my daughter was in the office and they needed me to come in and "talk". So I go in and there's my daughter, the principal, and two counselors waiting. My daughter then proceeds to tell me that:
A. She's been sexually active
B. She's two weeks late
C. She might be pregnant.
I can't even begin to describe what I felt at that moment. Most of all I was disappointed. My beautiful, intelligent 15 year old daughter might be throwing her life away. I stayed calm the whole time we were in the office but I let her have it when we left the school. Stupid was the word I think I used. I didn't call her stupid but said her actions were flat out stupid. She knows better. So we stopped at Walgreens on the way home and bought a pregnancy test. Got home, took the test......Not Pregnant. But just to make sure I called up Planned Parenthood and took her in for another test. Another negative. So I made an appointment for the next day to take her in and put her on birth control. She chose to get the Depo shot. No little pills to take or forget. One shot every three months. She's on a very short leash right now needless to say. I told her to remember how it felt when she thought she was pregnant and remember it well. Maybe the next time she thinks about having sex without protection, she'll think twice.
